A little about Rebecca…
I’m the Head of Bournemouth & Poole areas. I originally joined The Workshop in February 2021 as a Consultant and quickly progressed to our Poole office Branch Manager. After taking a career change in 2022, working in the corporate health and wellbeing space, I returned to the workshop in January 2024.
Any qualifications you may have – or working towards?
I am qualified by experience in terms of recruitment, having worked in the industry since 2010. However, the health industry has always been a passion of mine so during Covid, I decided to gain my level 3 diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage.
How (and why) did you get into recruitment?
Purely by accident. I sold a property management business in 2010 and found myself available for work. I was approached by a corporate agency to join their organisation. I’ve since worked for independent agencies and ran my own business for a short while. Apart from my short time away, recruitment is everything I’ve ever known!
What does your day-to-day role entail?
In the world of recruitment, no two days are ever the same – which is the reason I love my role as a recruiter. I speak to and meet with a whole range of candidates from different walks of life and with different experiences, either to place in a position on behalf of a client, or to take time to find out about their ideal role. I take the time to speak to companies on their behalf, seeking out career opportunities that might be suitable. My clients are equally so important, so I like to keep in touch in whichever way they need me to, whether that be to advise them on the current market, discussing job roles and candidate specifications, recruitment contingencies, or talking about our upcoming HR Forum, which we carry out bi-monthly. Due to my experience of working in the health benefits space, which I do like to keep a close eye on, I am sometimes the go-to person for information on employee benefits trends.
What do you like best about recruitment/your job?
The variation of the role and the conversations I have is what’s always held my interest! I love talking to different types of organisations, taking time to understand their function, seeing different working cultures, or getting to understand different job roles. You have to wear so many hats in this job! Other than that, there is no better feeling than knowing you have happy clients that are pleased with the service they have received – whether that be a candidate or a business. Customer satisfaction is what I take most pride in.
And not work related…Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?
Many moons ago I met Richard Branson once when I was a chambermaid at a local hotel – I turned down his bed!
