A little about Oriana…
I am currently Assistant Branch Manager in the Romsey office, however, started as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant in 2021. Before embarking on my career in recruitment, I spent just over a year working as a Customer Service Advisor in a pet shop which was incredibly enjoyable and rewarding.
How (and why) did you get into recruitment?
I got into recruitment thanks to a lecturer at university who inspired me to explore this field. During my third year, I was introduced to the concept of recruitment and quickly realised its crucial role in business success. The lecturer’s insights into the industry highlighted how effective recruitment strategies are essential for building successful teams and driving organisational growth.
What does your day-to-day role entail?
As a recruiter, I play an important role in identifying, attracting, and introducing top-notch candidates to companies across Hampshire. My main tasks include candidate sourcing, screening and selection, interview process coordination and offer negotiation whilst supporting candidates and consulting clients. Account management and business development are also key elements of my role in order to cultivate strong relationships with existing and new clients. Outside of the office, you can often find me chatting away at networking events, where I enjoy connecting with people and exploring new business opportunities in Hampshire.
Any qualifications you may have – or working towards?
I hold a bachelor’s degree (BA Hons) and most recently gained a Level 3 Certificate in Recruitment Practice by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC). I have always been a bit of a nerd when comes to studying and really enjoyed my student years!
What do you like best about recruitment/your job?
As cliché as it may sound, what I enjoy the most is the opportunity to make a tangible impact in people’s lives. Every day I have the privilege of connecting talented individuals with exciting career opportunities and helping companies find the perfect fit for their teams. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness the positive outcomes of successful placements and to know that I’ve played a role in shaping someone’s career path or helping a company thrive.
Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?
I’ve seen Eddie Vedder a few meters away at a music festival in Portugal! It was very exciting to see him perform as I have always been a big fan of Pearl Jam.
