A little about Alix…
I’m a trained copywriter and journalist and have been working at the Work Shop since February as a marketing administrator. Although not directly involved in the recruitment process, I assist the team with their daily tasks. I have learned a lot since being here and have discovered what a fast-paced industry it is!
How (and why) did you get into recruitment?
I was originally on the Work Shop’s books as a temp. After working at one placement, Georgina called to say she thought I would fit their team well, and asked me if I could take on the role working part time at the Ringwood branch.
What does your day-to-day role entail?
Many varied tasks! I update the job boards, make changes to our website, design and post updates on our social media (mainly LinkedIn) and help out with anything that the team here need.
What do you like best about recruitment/your job?
I am very people-orientated, as are all the people here (you definitely have to be to enjoy recruitment!) and that fits me well. No day is ever the same, I get to find out about candidates, clients and the recruitment process – as well as use my copywriting skills.
And not work related…Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?
I used to work for lad’s mags in the early 2000s, so got to meet many celebrities. Randomly I once bumped into Russell Crowe in London, and after bumbling over my words gave him directions to Oxford Street!
