A Little About Abigail
Hello! I manage the marketing for The Work Shop and provide candidate consultancy. I’m a recent graduate with a degree in Psychology, which I studied at Bournemouth University. I’ve always been the go-to therapist in my friend group, and I’m particularly interested in developmental psychology, kinesics, and social engineering.
Originally from London, I moved near Ringwood after completing my degree. Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym and exploring creative activities such as photography and clayworking. If I’m not asking my co-workers to bring their dogs into the office, I’m probably curating the office playlist.
How (and Why) Did You Get Into Recruitment?
I was offered my role at The Work Shop after coming in to register and look for work. With an interest in marketing, the role seemed like a great fit. Recruitment was something I was open to, as I understand how difficult it can be to find a job, particularly in London with its dense candidate pool. It’s also tough to stay motivated when you’re not getting responses. Working in recruitment allows me to support and encourage people as they get back into work.
What Does Your Day-to-Day Role Entail?
In my hybrid role, no two days are the same, which keeps things interesting! On the marketing side, I might design posters for new job listings, share photos and updates about office activities on LinkedIn, or organize newsletters and mailers. As a candidate consultant, I recruit for our temporary roles, searching through candidates on job boards or our database to find the perfect match for each position.
Qualifications
I graduated with a degree in Psychology, specializing in Counselling, Health & Neuroscience, Social Media, and Cybersecurity & Cyberwarfare.
What Do You Like Best About Recruitment/Your Job?
What I enjoy most is hearing from candidates after they’ve been placed in a role and learning that they’re happy in their new job. It’s incredibly rewarding to know I’ve matched them with something that fits their needs.
And Not Work-Related… Who’s the Most Famous Person You’ve Ever Met?
I studied Film and Media Production at The Brit School, where we had some amazing guest speakers. The most famous person I’ve met was Colin Firth. He recorded a very cheery video message for my brother saying “Oh, hello!” It was a memorable experience—10/10, would meet again.
